to Prepare Scholar-Practitioners

This session will provide an overview and seek feedback on a process used by one university to re-envision a series of inquiry courses aligned with Improvement Science and the dissertation in practice process. Content from traditional research courses along with new content was reorganized and sequenced to support students’ in completion of school improvement projects over the course of their three-year EdD program.

Brad Bizzell

Brad Bizzell is the coordinator of the master’s and doctoral program in educational leadership at Radford University. Prior to his work in higher education, he worked for 25 years in public schools as teacher, principal and school improvement coordinator and continues to work with a consortium of rural public school districts on leadership development and school improvement initiatives.

Amanda Bozack

Amanda Bozack is the director of the School of Teacher Education and Leadership at Radford University. Her research interests include the development, support, and retention of new teachers. She is the author of numerous articles and book chapters on the topic and has been awarded state and federal funds to assist teacher development.
