Artificial Intelligence CIG Book Club Event

Are you intrigued by the rapid advancements in artificial intelligence and eager to understand how AI will impact your work and life? Don't miss our summer faculty book club hosted by the CPED Artificial Intelligence CIG. We’ll be reading and discussing the insightful book Co-Intelligence: Living and Working with AI by Ethan Mollick.

In this must-read book, Mollick draws upon cutting-edge research and real-world examples to explore the future of human-AI collaboration. He examines how AI will reshape our work, relationships, industries, and society as a whole. Co-Intelligence provides a balanced perspective, addressing both the potential upsides of AI augmenting human capabilities as well as the risks and challenges we'll need to navigate.

As faculty, we have a unique opportunity and responsibility to prepare ourselves and our students for this AI-driven era. Reading and discussing "Co-Intelligence" together will allow us to:

● Gain a deeper understanding of AI capabilities, limitations, and trajectories

● Envision how AI could augment instruction, learning, research, and administration

● Consider the ethics and social implications of increasingly intelligent machines

● Develop strategies for humans and AI systems to complement each other effectively.

Facilitators:

Dr. Paula Cristina R. Azevedo started her career as a high school social studies teacher in San José, California, and has over 15 years of experience in education.  Currently, she is an assistant professor in the School of Education at Marymount University teaching in the Educational Leadership and Organization Innovation EdD program.  She founded the EdD program's Write Up! Institute, which provides online workshops on scholarly writing, research, writing sessions and an annual writing retreat, and is supporting efforts to re-envision doctoral coursework in the age of GenAI.  She is also an active member of the CPED's Artificial Intelligence CIG.

Dr. Dunnigan is currently on the faculty at Arizona State University where he teaches EdD research courses in the Mary Lou Fulton School of Education.  He has over 25 years of experience as a K-12 teacher, administrator, and college instructor in both public and private institutions.  He is a member of the Artificial Intelligence Learning Futures Collaborative at ASU.  He has extensive knowledge of AI and how generative AI is impacting teaching and learning.  He holds a Doctorate in Education as well as a Master in Teaching degree.  He is the founding chair of the CPED AI CIG.

Corrie Wilder serves as the Executive Director of Marketing and Communications at Washington State University Everett, overseeing and driving the strategic direction for all marketing communication initiatives.  She led the strategy for their newly launched Degree Partnership Program and recently secured the institution's spot as an Amazon Career Choice Educational Partner.  Before this role, Corrie served as a Clinical Assistant Professor and Director of Marketing & Communications at The Edward R. Murrow College of Communication, where she shaped marketing strategies and mentored the next generation of communication professionals.  Corrie is pursing a Doctorate in Educational Leadership at Washington State University, which she anticipates completing in September 2024.  Her academic credentials also include an M.S. in Technical Communication from Arizona State University and undergraduate degrees in Graphic Design from Parsons School of Design and Human Resources from the University of Delaware.  She also holds a certification in Design Thinking from IDEOU.
