The 2026 CPED Convening, El Futuro Tiene Memoria, invites educational leaders and scholar-practitioners to reflect on how memory—personal, institutional, and communal—shapes the future of the Doctor of Education (EdD). Hosted in Corpus Christi, Texas, a city rooted in civic engagement and landmark struggles for educational fairness, the convening centers place, history, and responsibility as foundations for purposeful leadership. 

As EdD programs face increasing pressure to demonstrate relevance, coherence, and community impact, this convening calls us to return to the stories, struggles, and values that have shaped our work. Memory is not a constraint; it is a guide. By engaging institutional histories, lived experiences, and program legacies, we can reimagine leadership preparation that is ethical, contextually responsive, and justice-oriented. 

As we gather near Día de los Muertos 2026—a time of remembrance and honoring those who came before us—participants are invited to reflect on the legacies their EdD programs carry forward and the futures they seek to design. Together, we will explore how institutional memory can inform innovation, strengthen practice-based scholarship, and advance the EdD with intention and care.

REGISTERING FOR THE CONVENING

Early Bird Registration by Thursday, October 1 

Faculty - $400        Students - $200

Regular Registration after October 1 (Convening; contact hotel for room reservations after this date)

Faculty - $425             Students - $200   

The Registration includes: two lunches, an evening reception, morning and afternoon refreshments, and learning materials.

Pre-Convening Workshops - $50 each in addition to Registration

We are excited to announce the workshops for the 2026 CPED Convening, taking place on October 27 from 10:00-11:50 AM at the Omni Corpus Christi and sponsored by Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi. Workshops are an integral part of our convening, offering deep dives into specialized topics and hands-on learning opportunities facilitated by knowledgeable CPED members. You may include a workshop in your convening registration for a $50 fee. A description for this year's pre-convening workshops can be found HERE.
