Dissertation Resources

An original problem CPED faced was distinguishing the dissertation experience in the EdD to be something that better prepared practitioners to use research, inquiry, and literature to improve their practice. We began with the name “capstone” but over time switched to dissertation in practice. That said, the name is not important. Rather, the content and experience of the culminating research project is what matters.  

Central to the CPED Framework is the distinction of research training, the culminating project and its focus. That is, we see research training as applied and crucial to teaching practitioners to use research and research evidence in practice. The Dissertation in Practice (DiP)  is focused on a complex problem of practice and provides hands-on training to teach practitioners how to use research to improve practice.
